Family, friends, faculty, staff, and community members gathered for the grand opening of the newly completed administration building on Friday, October 19. President, Michael “Mickey” Parish discussed the collaborative effort that was involved in the planning and building process and thanked those who participated in bringing the vision to life. Bryan Newland, Chair for the BMCC Board of Regents and Chairman of the Bay Mills Indian Community, addressed the attendees with kind words of Mickey’s service and dedication to the College and the community. Bryan announced the name of the building and revealed a plaque to be displayed in the new building; The Michael C. Parish Administration Center. Mickey was surprised and humbled by the honor as the crowd stood in applause. The lower level conference center also received recognition being named Adikameg (Whitefish) Hall, which will host future graduation ceremonies and other events.
