Tutoring is offered in a variety of subject areas such as: Math, English, Biology, Chemistry, and Accounting.  Professional Tutors are experienced professionals currently working or have worked) in the field which they are tutoring.  Peer Tutors are typically students who have taken and successfully completed the class they're tutoring.  Peer tutors are also recommended to tutor the subject by BMCC's Department Chairs.  Professional Math and English Tutors are available every week each semester.  The available tutors, hours, and service locations will be posted in: TRIO/SSS Lab, Coach offices, and on BMCC TRIO Facebook page.

  • Counseling/Advisement and assistance in postsecondary course selection
We offer one-on-one academic, personal, or career counseling to students. Our academic coaches are tailored to fit the individual needs of each student for academic and/or non-academic needs.  This can include such concerns as: test anxiety, test taking strategies, time management, and improving study skills. We also offer some personal or career counseling by a Certified Career Coach (Tenniel McLeod). This service is available to students for as long as they are enrolled at Bay Mills Community College and are participants in TRiO/Student Support Services.

  • Financial Aid (FAFSA) Assistance, Education, or Counseling for Financial and Economic Literacy
Grant aid opportunities are available in the fall and spring semester to PELL eligible students in the TRIO/SSS program. Furthermore, SSS actively informs and assists students with completing FAFSA, university transfer trips, and university applications.  Financial and Economic Literacy is a critical service we offer.  Our team will provide each participant with valuable information to empower them on being financially prepared on how to pay for college and how (and when) to pay back student loans (if needed).  We are knowledgable with financial resources, assist with scholarship searches and application(s), and/or internship opportunities for which they may be eligible.

  • Assist students to apply for admission to 4-year programs
We offer one-on-one assistance with transferring from BMCC to the college or university you have chosen for continuation of your degree.  Many applications fees are waived if you have TRiO/SSS assist you with your application.  Please talk to your Academic Success Coach early to be eligible for acceptance especially into specific programs.
