BMCC’s Computer Information Systems (CIS) Associate of Applied Science Degree is designed to teach and train students in a variety of Information Technology disciplines. Students who enroll in BMCC’s CIS program will learn how to administer operating systems, such as Linux, Windows, Windows Server; design and install wired and wireless networks; install and configure networking devices (Cisco Routers and Switches); troubleshoot and repair computers; learn web development, and more.
A majority of classes offered in BMCC’s CIS program will prepare students for professional credentials that require the passing of an additional exam. Certification based classes include pathways to:
"Employment in computer and information technology occupations is projected to grow 13 percent from 2020 to 2030, faster than the average for all occupations. These occupations are projected to add about 667,600 new jobs. The median annual wage for computer and information technology occupations was $91,250 in May 2020, which was higher than the median annual wage for all occupations of $41,950." (US Bureau of Labor Statistics, 2021).
According to the US Bureau of Labor and Statistics, May 2015 National Occupational Employment and Wages Estimates, the following are the national median salaries. Starting salaries will generally be less than median salaries. Some positions may require a bachelor’s degree.
